About the Training
This Bootcamp is designed for Rural Health Clinics (RHCs) and Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs) to ensure compliance, maximize revenue, and strengthen collaboration between clinical and administrative staff.
Participants will gain a deep understanding of clinical documentation, coding, and billing processes tailored specifically to RHCs and FQHCs. Choose between a live two-day Bootcamp onsite, a 2 or 3 day virtual Bootcamp, or an online self-study format that allows flexibility in completing the course within 90 days of launching the online videos. For details related to the online version, see below.
Many state and national rural/primary care associations sponsor our live and virtual courses, so reach out to them to see if they would like to bring this training to your state and also check our training calendar for nationally available live virtual options!
While this training helps facility managers and revenue cycle staff prepare for the optional Rural/Community Health – Coding & Billing Specialist certification exam (RH-CBS or CH-CBS), we strongly encourage clinical personnel (MD, DO, NP, PA, RN) to attend. Clinical documentation is the foundation of accurate coding and billing.
Who Needs This Training?
Does Your Organization Have a Shared Foundation of Knowledge?
- -Do your providers, managers, and coding/billing/quality staff fully understand documentation, coding, and billing rules specific to RHCs and FQHCs?
- Do your clinical providers know how to document all billable and reportable services accurately?
- How confident is senior management that your organization is not undervaluing its true costs on the annual cost report?
- Does your facility maintain a full record of each service performed (CPT/HCPCS-II codes) and the reason for those services (ICD-10-CM codes)?
- Are you maximizing reimbursement when billing commercial payers, Medicaid, and Medicare Advantage plans?
- Are you meeting reporting requirements for Shared Savings, Risk Adjustment (HCCs), and Quality Improvement programs?
Who Should Attend?
In addition to professional coders and medical billers, all versions of the Bootcamp are also ideal for:
- Clinical providers (MD, DO, NP, PA, RN)
- EHR & Revenue Cycle Professionals
- Facility, Financial, & Office Managers
Why Attend?
CMS requires RHCs and FQHCs to list all CPT and HCPCS-II codes on claims. Your facility must ensure that 100% of services are properly documented and coded to avoid lost revenue.
Many commercial payers do not follow the Medicare PPS/AIR system, meaning billing strategies must be adjusted accordingly.
Your cost report is directly tied to your coding practices—under-documenting can result in underreporting and financial loss.
IT and EHR limitations often prevent coders and providers from seeing important guidelines before and after CPT and HCPCS sections. We cover these in detail.
Our training focuses on primary care, behavioral health, and preventive services—the core of RHC and FQHC operations.
We provide hands-on experience with over a dozen vital resources, including CMS Benefits and Claims Manuals, to help your team navigate the unique compliance requirements of rural and community health settings.
What is Covered?
- How well do your clinical providers know the rules?
- Do they fully understand documentation requirements and the differences between coding and billing?
- When was the last time they received training on coding updates?
- Do you have a complete record of all services performed, whether paid or not?
- Are you maximizing revenue for non-Medicare/Medicaid payers?
- Are you accurately reporting quality measures? (Shared Savings, Risk Adjustment / HCCs, Other Quality Improvement Programs)
